You Make the Difference

Close to a year ago this past January, a helpless young horse and her momma were found severely emaciated, frozen and near death in a backyard in Enoch. Animal control officers intervened, requested our assistance, and brought the little filly and her mom to the ranch.

Elsa was frozen to the ground and fighting for her life

We all had high hopes that they would recover from the horrendous suffering they had endured. They became known as Elsa and Anna, named after the characters from the Disney film “Frozen”.

For 16 days, Elsa fought a heroic battle for life. Sadly, despite round the clock care and the loving support of dozens of volunteers along with thousands of loving, caring supporters worldwide who desperately held out for her survival, Elsa crossed over the Rainbow Bridge and left this earth.

Thankfully, her mother, Anna, not only survived, she is thriving here at the ranch!

Anna – Then and Now

Elsa brought so many of us together for a common good… she forever changed the lives of nearly everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her story highlights the need for changes in the way people think of and treat animals.

In honor of Elsa and Anna, part of our mission is to help affect changes in attitudes and existing laws so that no horse should ever suffer neglect, abuse or abandonment in the future.

You are the miracle!

Simply put, without you Dust Devil Ranch Sanctuary for Horses would cease to exist.

We operate with a core group of volunteers, including myself, who take responsibility for the daily care of the horses and operation of the sanctuary. We aren’t paid to do this – we do it out of love and compassion for horses. We don’t look for recognition or glory for what we do. Our primary purpose is to give comfort and care to horses in need, and provide a safe haven for them for as long as they need it.

This is where you come in… 100% of your donations go to the shelter and care of the horses in our charge.

Your ongoing support has saved dozens of horses from suffering and certain death. Because of you, we can provide them with a second chance for healthy and productive lives.

The horses in our care receive shelter, food, quality veterinary care, farrier services, rehabilitation and adoption services. The disabled and senior horses that are deemed unadoptable are given lifelong sanctuary here at the ranch.

Elsa’s Barn

When we started the rescue in June 2012, the owner of the neighboring ranch generously leased us her empty big red barn. It was a win-win for everyone. But, early in July, with only a few days notice, our lease was terminated because the property is being sold. We were forced to vacate and move all the horses and gear out.

Because of our dependence on that barn and receiving such short notice, we were caught without adequate shelter for the horses. So barn shopping we went. Fortunately we found one within just a few weeks… and then a miracle happened!

You reached out to us with gifts and donations that enabled us to buy that barn!… a barn we’re calling “Elsa’s Barn”.

Take a look here at what your kindness and generosity has done to help bring the new barn onsite and get it completed …

Moreover, as your donations continue coming, those funds are being used for…

  • Grading the site in preparation for the building and to alleviate flooding
  • Pouring concrete for the foundation
  • Plumbing and electrical work
  • Constructing and accessorizing the barn

Without your loyalty and support, “Elsa’s Barn” would not be possible. There are no words that can adequately express how deeply grateful and appreciative we are to you. The best we can do is thank you again from our heart to yours, and continue our work helping these beautiful and treasured creatures.

We’re making steady progress on the barn. We will continue to keep you up-to-date via the website, Facebook and email.

Yours in gratitude,

Ginger
